Frequency Update on ODN Gen2 Satellite Modem

Last Updated: 3/25/2025

Required Tools: Computer with ethernet connection and an ethernet cable

If this frequency change is completed before the frequency change date listed in the ODN email notification your modem will not work until after that date and time.

  • Disable or disconnect WiFi on your computer.
  • Connect your computer via ethernet to the satellite modem. This can be done either directly to LAN1 or LAN2 on the modem, or if there is an ethernet switch installed, you may use said switch if that is easier.

  • Your computer should automatically (DHCP) be assigned an IP address from the modem. If not, contact ODN for the static IP of your modem.
  • To verify the IP / subnet assignment, open command prompt on your computer
    • For windows 7/10 you can use the search bar in the start menu and type 'cmd' or 'command'.
  • Once in command prompt type ipconfig and press enter.

  • This will return a list of all the running network interfaces on the computer. Find your LAN or Ethernet connection in the list. Under this you will find an IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address. The IP address should start with either 10.100.XXX.XXX or 10.101.XXX.XXX.

  • You should now open your web browser, ODN recommend using Internet Explorer, Edge, or Chrome for this step.

  • In your browser's address bar, you should type the default gateway listed in the previous ipconfig step and press 'enter'.

  • If everything is correct you will now have the UHP web interface as shown above.

  • From this page, select profiles from the left-hand navigation menu

  • This page will list up to 8 profiles, each with a 'mode' (i.e star station, crosspol test, mesh station). Find the profile that has the autorun button enabled. Once you have identified the correct profile, select it by clicking on its name under the 'mode' column. In most cases this will be profile 1.

  • Once inside the profile's settings page, you will need to select the TDM/SCPC RX submenu as shown in the picture below.

  • We will now change the frequency as required under the demodulator-1 section on this page. As of the last updated date, the current frequency is 12177999 and the symbol rate is 3800.

  • Once you have changed the frequency and symbol rate, you can click the 'Apply' button at the bottom of the page, and then the yellow 'Save config' button in the top left of the page.

  • If this change was made after the frequency change occurred, you should now see the modem come back into operation under the status in the top center of the page.
