6.8 - Using the Signal Strength Meter in the Satellite Modem GUI

•From a laptop computer, connect an ethernet cable to one of the satellite modem’s LAN ports.
•Make sure the laptop WiFi is turned off.
•Set your computer’s ethernet IPv4 address to 192.168.222.223 – with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
•Open a browser such as Chrome and browse to the default local IP address of the modem, 192.168.222.222
This should open the Overview page of the modem.
•On the left side of the Overview page there is a Maintenance folder.  Click on the Maintenance folder and then select Pointing.  This will take you to a page that displays the current signal strength.

•Even with no RX signal, there will be a yellow RF level bar, but no green SCPC C/N bar.
•When any level of the ODN satellite signal is seen on the RX input, a green bar will appear labeled “SCPC C/N”
•Adjust the antenna position for the maximum “SCPC C/N” level attainable (also indicated as a dB number) as described in the previous antenna pointing guides.

Note: It is possible to get an indication on the yellow RF level bar from similar frequencies on other satellites.
If the meter indicates a high RF signal strength with no green C/N bar present, you are likely pointed at the wrong satellite.

Modem Meter Troubleshooting:
•Double-check that the correct frequency and symbol rate is entered in the Profile>Star Station>TDM/SCPC RX settings
•Double-check the Site Setup page to verify the RX1/RX2 LNB power is enabled in the checkbox and that the L.O frequency entered matches the actual antenna LNB.
